Shenyu（原Soul）

Apache ShenYu is a high-performance, multi-protocol, extensible, and responsive API Gateway built natively in Java. It serves as a central entry point for managing, securing, and routing API traffic across microservices architectures. The gateway supports a wide range of backend protocols including Apache Dubbo, Spring Cloud, gRPC, Motan, SOFA, TARS, WebSocket, and MQTT, enabling seamless protocol conversion and service proxy. ShenYu provides comprehensive API governance capabilities such as request/response parameter mapping, rate limiting with Hystrix and RateLimiter plugins, and dynamic traffic control through a visual dashboard. Security features include Sign authentication, OAuth 2.0, JSON Web Tokens (JWT), and WAF plugin support. The platform offers observability through tracing, metrics, and logging plugins, and supports cluster deployments with NGINX, Docker, and Kubernetes. Its plugin architecture allows hot-swapping and dynamic loading of extensions, and it provides client libraries in .NET, Python, Go, and Java for API registration. As an Apache Software Foundation project, ShenYu is open-source and community-driven, with a focus on high performance and extensibility.
